Ruth

I just got done preaching on Ruth today. It was really nice to get to cover a topic such as this one, meaning - one I didn't know a lot about before getting into it. Now I feel like I know the story really well.

Nevertheless, the real reason I'm blogging about this is because I came across something from this story that I thought everybody needs to hear. First, you should go through and read the story of Ruth and just take it all in. But then, look at Bethlehem as being our Promise Land and look at Moab as being the world we live in today. And put us in Ruth's place, that being mankind. Then think about God being Boaz. Boaz was there in the beginning when everyone left for Moab, Boaz was there for Ruth when she returned to Bethlehem and he was there when she fell at his feet. He was excited when Ruth decided to lie at his feet, and he took her as his wife.

We, as the Church, are called to be the bride of Christ. He was there in the beginning when we left Him. He's there for us the minute we return, and He's just waiting for us to fall at His feet in submission so that He can show us His love.

Let's think about this one for a little while, and tell me what you think about this comparison. Does it fit, or am I stretching it too far? Is the story of Ruth really about something else?
