Anybody Else???

I haven't really been too happy lately. Over and over again, I feel like I am working hard to do things for people, to help out where I can, to be friendly and loving... yet, at the end of the day, I end up feeling tired and alone. Don't get me wrong, I love the opportunity to help someone else when they can't do something on their own. But it's hard when it feel like it's never enough. No matter what I do, no matter who I do it for, there's always something else. It never stops. At times I sit down and take a break, but that doesn't go over well. People need/want stuff done NOW. To even think about what is going on in someone else's life is too much when you feel like you need something. Who cares what's going on in the life of the one who you've asked to help you. Sometimes I hate being looked at as someone who can do different things, who can fix something or figure something out. I wish I wasn't the one that people turned to when they w...

Stuck

I love the Church, but I really feel like we're stuck right now. We want to focus on certain issues, and we stand on those issues pointing fingers at people all the while forgetting about the holistic approach that needs to be taken by Christians. I know there are certain issues that are predominant in today's society, but how do we allow ourselves to focus so much on a select number of issues (which usually are the issues that bother people personally), yet we don't hold ourselves accountable on the other things. The main thing with Christianity is that we can do nothing to save ourselves. ONLY because of the death of Jesus Christ do we even have a chance at being seen as holy and blameless in the eyes of God. We need to love Jesus; thus, we need to love others. Stop pointing fingers and start making a difference.

Be The Church

In Danville, we’ve been trying to work together as The Church, not individual congregations but together as The Church. It doesn’t matter our make-up, majority Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, Asian, or another ethnicity. We want to work together for the betterment of the Kingdom. We have a day of service projects scheduled for October 3, 2020 called “Serve Together: Vermilion County.” We will have groups going out all over the county working together, no matter what congregation you come from. On this day, we are The Church in Vermilion County. This wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the leaders of these local churches who are Kingdom minded. All to often we spend way too much time trying to compete with the local church down the street when our competition isn’t the other local churches at all! We are called to Be The Church.
